No luck for Tralee duo The Park and Kingdom Boys
NATIONAL CUP
Wednesday March 03 2010
THERE was no luck for either The Park or Kingdom Boys in the National Cup last weekend with the Park U12s going down 4-0 away to Ballincollig and Kingdom Boys loosing out 5-0 in Dublin to Clontarf.
Firstly The Park were 2-0 down in the first period and in chasing the game were caught with two late goals. Kingdom Boys got off to the worst possible start when in the first minute keeper Paul White was red-carded for a very controversial hand ball outside the box. Paul challenged the attacker and while the ball ended up in the net but the linesman decided that he prevented a clear goal scoring opportunity and the ref flashed the red card.
Kingdom Boys tried hard but were 3-0 down by the end of the first half. However, they did have chances and Darragh Carmody saw a goal bound effort cleared off the line which might have changed the complexion of the game.
The Tralee side held Clontarf scoreless for most of the second half, but just ran out of steam and the Dublin side ran in two late goals.
