Asdee make home advantage count to draw with Castleisland

Wednesday February 10 2010

PREMIER A table toppers Castleisland conceded home advantage to travel to play Asdee and were held to a 1-1 draw by the Shannonsiders in a keenly contested encounter.

When Castleisland went ahead in the second half with a real cracker of a volley from the boot of veteran Tim O'Donoghue they seemed to be on the road to victory. However, Asdee battled back bravely and got back to parity courtesy of a Thomas Buckley goal. Asdee had to withstand a lot of pressure towards the end of the game but they held out to take the game to a replay. The hero of the game for Asdee was goalkeeper James Kelly who made a series of spectacular saves that kept his side in the game.
