All Kerry clashes in Junior Cup looking likely
FAI JUNIOR CUP
Wednesday February 03 2010
I SAID last week that the last thing the Kerry sides that are left in the FAI Cup wanted was to meet each other in the last 32 draw, but it looks like this could come to fruition with the mouth-watering meeting of Killarney Athletic and Killarney Celtic at Woodlawn now a distinct possibility.
Killarney Celtic still have an outstanding game in the competition as they must play College Corinthians from Cork in a backdated last 64 game at Celtic Park and if they win this it will result in one of the biggest Killarney Derbies of all time. The good news is that both Castleisland and Listowel Celtic have secured home draws in the last 32, but they have very strong opposition to contend with.
Castleisland will meet the winners of Courtown Hibs from Wexford or Lower Crumlin F C from Dublin. Listowel Celtic have the toughest draw of all as they meet the winners of Fairview Rangers from Limerick or Killinarden from the Dublin League. Fairview Rangers won out the competition in 2004 defeating Carrick on Suir 3 - 0. The last 32 games will be played on the weekend of February 20.
Meanwhile,
Killarney Celtic's destiny will be known next Saturday evening when they play College Corinthians at Celtic Park with the winners to meet Killarney Athletic. This is a very difficult assignment for Celtic as College Corinthins are a very strong side.
