Killarney bow out of Mick Barry Cup
A QUIET weekend of Munster Junior rugby meant that only Killarney were in cup action last weekend. The Kerry side faced up to the challenge of Bandon in the Mick Barry Cup.
This quarter-final fixture, which was being played at the Kerry venue, proved to be another damp squib for the locals as the Cork men took the honours in the well contested fixture. Paul Moynihan and Ollie O'neill scored a try apiece for the home side with David Treacy kicking one conversion and a penalty.
However, Bandon had a brace of tries from Colin O'mahony and Colm Hurley to celebrate, and when Andrew Willis added two conversions and two penalties the writing was on the wall for the Kingdom side. 30-15 was, as it happens, a fair reflection of the how the game went. Killarney will now head back to league action and strive for one of the precious promotion spots still up for grabs.
