Wednesday March 10 2010
TRALEE trainer Tom Cooper ( pictured), whose For padytheplas-terer will carry his hopes of furher success at Cheltenham next week, has his runners in rude health and added to the stable's recent rich pickings with further successs at Downpatrick races on Wednsday last where his charge Rossdara, under an outstanding Barry Geraghty drive, gamely won the 2m 2f mares Novice hurdle by less than a length from the fast finishing Maryiver.
Geraghty, a superb race tactician, had her in front from the start, and, jumping superbly, the well schooled mare was strongly pressed two out but rallied gamely at the las, to stay on in powerful fashion to win and land huge support from 6/4 to 9/10 on track.
The winner, a Clonmel maiden hurdle winner in the autumn, is owned by well known Killarney hotelier Valerie Courtney.
