Kerry winner of the Kingdom Cup

Tralee's Johnny Kelliher trains winner of prestigious event DRESDEN Call (Bexhill Eoin / Call Biddy) captured the prestigious Kingdom Cup with a masterclass display at Ballybeggan Park yesterday ( Tuesday). The ante-post favourite was quickly into his stride when getting the better of Toast Master by a length in the opening round.
However, the North Kerry Cup winner didn't look comfortable leaving the arena following the course and his further participation in the Cup looked in jeopardy.
Trainer Johnny Kelliher worked his magic during the break and Dresden Call put in a fine display to get the better of Avenue Ando to book his place in the final eight.
The Lixnaw owned dog was put to the pin of his collar by Cyrptic Rebel in the quarterfinal with Dresden getting the nod in a just-up decision. Apple Dreamer stood in the way at the semi-final stage, however, the winner was quickly in control of proceedings here to book his final spot with a 1 1/2 length winning margin.
Moredorado View progressed to the decider from the top half of the draw,however he was very much the the outsider going to slips for the final buckle. And so it proved, as Dresden took a flyer from slips and the result was never in doubt from a long way out out and he took the opening score by three and a half lenghts. The winner is owned by Johnny O'keeffe and Pat Ban Mccarthy from Lixnaw and their star performer has now elevated his status in the Champion Stakes points rankings.
Silent Carol (Bexhill Eoin / Silent Mac) produced the goods to collect the Oaks ticket with a solid display over the two days. Available at 5/1 at the quarterfinal stage, she caught the eye with an impressive display in a three length win over Catchinscrather to book her place in the penultimate round.
She faced a tough task in the semi-final, as she went to slips against Bridewell Olive who had caught the eye with some dazzling displays in the earlier rounds. However, the early pace of Silent Carol proved decisive as she took a flyer from slips and although Bridewell battled back into contention the winner stayed in front and book her final place by the narrowest of margins.
A hot favourite for honours in the final, Silent Carol shook of the early challenge of Denham Óg amd ran on strong for a two and a half length success. The winner is jointly owned by Castleilands Tom Nolan and James O'connor from Ballyhar. The Derby ticket was won by Tom Bawn (Bexhill Eoin / Bridewell Rose) who is owned by John Quilter from Lixnaw.
The winner was very much the outsider going to slips in the final against Undilating Green who was the favourite throughout the stake. However, the North Kerry runner produced the goods in the final and opened up an early lead which proved decisive as he held on gamely for a one and half length success. The winner is trained by Gerry Galvin from Listowel as his tough stlye of running will make him a formidable player in the Powerstown classic.
It was a day to remember for the Brosna kennels of Nelie Nolan as he had a double on the card, winning the All Age Bitch and Working Member Stakes. Kerry Hill Lass (Musical Times / Norwood Countess) collected the points in the All Age event getting the better of the strongly fancied Plough and Stars in the final course by three lenghts, having come from off the pace.
Brosna Ranger (Ballymac Meave/strangford Katie) collected in the local stake beating Lassa Extra by a length.
Finally the Baily Cup was won by Tee Wee Times ( Janey Mcaroo / Creggane Rose ) who had a six length win over Listowel Feale in the final. The winner is owned in Tralee by Joe Ryle and Val Bourke.
