Gneeveguilla pleased with 5k series
THE final round of the Killarney 5k winter series again attracted a big field of runners to the Demense on Saturday last.
Ed Murphy and Niamh O'sullivan again put in great performances to win not just this leg, but also the overall Senior Mens and Womens sections respectively. Ed won in a time of 15.40 from sixteen year old Brendan O'connor, who was having his first race in a Riocht singlet. Robert Purcell ran on strongly for third, followed by Tim O'connor and Simon Mangan.
Niamh recorded a time of 17.59 when winning from Ann Marie Costello, Catriona Barry, Siobhan Daly and Mary O'connor. The promoting club Gneeveguilla expressed great satisfaction with the overall success of the series. The overall results are as follows:
