Austin Stacks celebrate Carroll victory
Wednesday March 10 2010
THE Austin Stacks GAA Club put on a big show for all the connections of Oaks coursing winner, Lisloose Accord, last Friday night. Club chairman, Ger Reidy, did a great job as MC and various presentations were made by vice-chairman, Pat Joe McQuinn.
The biggest cheer of the night, of course, was for trainer, Johnny Carroll ( above), but two men in the background, Matthew Donovan and Oliver Healy, received very warm applause as well. Joint owner, Liam Lynch, delivered a terrific speech and Jimmy O'Regan, son of legendary Kerry footballer, Martin "Bracker" O'Regan, recited a very appropriate and wellresearched poem which he compiled himself and which was beautifully framed for presentation to Johnny Carroll.
Former Kerry footballer, Darragh Ó Sé, regarded by Johnny Carroll as his number 1 sporting hero, was unable to be present, but in a lovely touch he gave a No 8 jersey from the 2009 championship season to Carroll. Yes, a very special doggy night at the home of one of the most famous GAA clubs in the land.
