Dooley fires Kingdom hurlers to second success

Wednesday March 03 2010

IT'S two wins out of two for the Kerry Senior hurling team. On Sunday last they travelled to Castlebar and defeated Mayo with a score of 1-18 to 2-14. The teams were even at halftime Kerry 0-11 to 1-8 Mayo.

John Mike Dooley scored Kerry's vital goal. Kerry lived dangerously for the last two minutes after Mayo scoring a second goal leaving the score 1-18 to 2-14. However, good defensive work ensured that the Kingdom held on and earned the vital two points.

Our hurling team will next play Meath next at home in Austin Stack Park on Sunday, March 14. This will be a very important game for both teams as Kerry top the Division 3A table with four points and Meath are second with three points. THE second of our information seminars for club officers from the following areas – South Kerry Football and Hurling, Mid Kerry, East Kerry and Kenmare Divisions will be held in the Malton Hotel (Mangerton Suite) Killarney on Wednesday, March 3 at 7.30pm.

This seminar is aimed at new officers – specifically Chairmen, Secretaries, Treasurers, PROs and Club Registrars. While all new officers are urged to attend, any officer regardless of how long they are in a position are more than welcome to come along.

The purpose of the seminar is to help officers in their roles, giving general guidelines on good practice and most importantly dealing with any problems / issues that officers may have. For this Seminar the Chairman Secretary and Treasurers will be together while the Club Registrars and PROs should go to the Dr Crokes Club Rooms where County PRO Maureen O Shea and IT Chairman Brian O'Callaghan will conduct the session. The seminar in the Crokes Clubrooms will begin at 7.30pm (PROs at 7.30pm and Registrars at 8pm) and will take at most one hour.

It would be very important that the person looking after membership registration which has to be submitted online this year attend the Meeting in the Dr Crokes clubrooms. Officers who were not able to attend our first seminar in Tralee last week should make every effort to attend on Wednesday night, while any Club Coiste na nOg Registrar who wishes to attend the training on Club Registration in Dr Crokes is also very welcome.
