Crokes pipped in South Kerry juvenile hurling final
THE South Kerry Juvenile hurling committee's promotion of hurling as part of the Killarney Summerfest was held in the St Brendan's College sportsfield beside the Cathedral on last Friday.
Despite the inclement weather we have some very competitive games and a large number of spectators in attendance.
There were many tourists present– Irish and foreign – and they were intrigued and fascinated with the skill levels and intensity of the games and they were very well entertained.
We had Under-11 teams from Dr Crokes, Kilgarvan, Kenmare and Tournafulla from Limerick. The games were very competitive and not for the fainthearted however they were all played in a very sporting manner.
Dr Crokes and Tournafulla qualified for the final of the competition after the league section was completed. The final lived up to the expectations of all present and these two sides gave everything for the cause.
In the end our Limerick visitors, Tournafulla claimed victory by a narrow margin. However, in the overall context of this promotion hurling was the winner and the many spectators present were delighted to be part of this event.
It will hopefully become an annual part of the Killarney Summerfest in years to come.
