Wins for Tralee jockeys Enright and McDermott
TRALEE jockey Philip Enright visited the winners enclosure at Bellewstown races on Thursday last, where he sprang a shock 25/1 surprise with Drop Anchor in the 3ml maiden hurdle. Prominent from the outset, he progressed in second with two to jump, and shortly afterwards went to the front, staying on well under pressure to win by less than two lengths, and then survive a lengthy stewards inquiry.

Meanwhile, another Tralee jockey, Sean McDermott, produced a most enterprising piece of riding at Galway races on Sunday on Gudnis Gracious Me, in the valuable 2ml handicap hurdle of € 16,500.
Getting a real flyer from flagfall, where he gained at least 10 lengths, he completely dictated matters up front, and appeared a sitting duck for Davy Russell on the well supported fav St Devote. But McDermott had paced his mount well, and saved a little for the punishing uphill finish, and ascerted from the last to win well.
