THE first really important sweepstake of the year at Tralee Track began last Friday night and Spa, Tralee owner, Maurice Harty, is entitled to be very fairly optimistic about the chances of his charge, Lassinagh Brae, being in there at the death for a handsome winner's purse of € 3,000.

IMAGINE a 3/1 shot paying 51/1 on the tote. These are the kind of things that can happen in greyhound racing, adding to the mix of excitement for the smaller investor, and the greyhound responsible for that remarkable tote payout in the first race at Tralee Track last Friday night, Glamour Sunway (Head Bound – Travara Princess), actually won like an odds-on shot, leading the charge into the first bend from a trap 1 draw and dominating all the way to the line where she had two lengths to spare from Gurteen Dubh in 29.96 (A5 class).
