Claire Coughlan is new Irish ladies captain
CORK Golf Club's Claire Coughlan has been named as the captain of the Irish Ladies Golf team for the Home International matches which are to be played at her home course in early September and the former Irish international will no doubt be calling on all her local knowledge to give her players an advantage over the other countries when the time comes.
Guiney misses another cut on Hooters Tour
BALLYBUNION'S JD Guiney missed the 36hole cut at Diamond Back GC on the Hooters tour in Florida last week with rounds of 80 & 74 making it five missed cuts from seven tournaments since he joined the paid ranks.

Guiney's Tour is dogged by inconsistency
BALLYBUNION'S JD Guiney is certainly learning that life on tour can have its trials and tribulations as he followed up a good performance two week ago with a missed cut last week. Playing in the Hooter's Tour event at the Red Tail club in Sorrento, Florida, he opened up with a two under par 70 but a second round of 76 saw him miss the cut for the fourth time in six outings.
No merger of GUI and ILGU is planned
LAST week I wrote about the merger of the Men's and Ladies Golf Unions in England and I wondered if it was going to happen in Ireland. The ink wasn't dry on that article when I received a press release informing me of an upcoming meeting between the GUI, ILGU and the PGA (Irish Region).
