AFTER missing out on the 2010 campaign due to a horrific injury in the First Round of the Intermediate Championship that year, the man who lifted the Bishop Moynihan Cup in 2008 for Mid Kerry has played a pivotal role in his side's journey to Croke Park.

FATE has dictated that he will be the man to lead Milltown / Castlemaine out onto the pitch this Sunday, an unfortunate injury to their appointed captain Ciaran Kelliher means that Damian Murphy has assumed the stand-in role and the former County Championship winning defender feels that the team owe it to Kelliher as much as anyone else.

John Fintan Daly is well known for his commentary and analysis on Cork radio station C103 and also for his success with various Cork teams in the form of Knocknagree, Duhallow and the Cork Juniors, but it was a phone call from one of his former understudies in Gerry Casey that got him involved with Milltown / Castlemaine around this time last year.

THE AGM of the North Kerry Football Board took place before a huge gathering at the Mermaids Listowel last Monday with all club delegates present. With chairman Liam Dennehy and vice-chairman Jimmy Buckley having to vacate their positions due to the five-year rule there was a contest for the position of Chairman between the other outgoing vicechairman, Tom Dillon of St Senans, and the outgoing PRO Billy Enright, Ballylongford, with Enright elected the new Chairman of the Board. Mike Kennelly of Listowel Emmets was unopposed becomes the new vice-chairman with the positions of both the second vice-chairman and PRO to be finalised.

A quarter of a century later, Brendan lined out as goalkeeper for St Agathas Glenflesk in the 1965 O'donoghue Cup final against Dr Crokes but the chance of an O'donoghue cup medal eluded him as the Crokes took their ninth title.
