Wednesday February 01 2012

THE 2011 North Kerry Under 21 Championship (sponsored by Liam Deenehy of Duagh) saw the semi-finals of the competition on Sunday last where St Senans qualified for the final after seeing off a very spirited Ballydonoghue side to qualify for the final on the scoreline.

St Senan's 1-11 Ballydonoghue 0-7

The second semi-final failed to produce a winner as defending champions Knock / Brosna and Castleisland Desmonds finished all square after extra time on the scoreline Knock / Brosna 0-15 Castleisland Desmonds 015. The replay of this game will take place on this coming Saturday, February 4 at Duagh with a 3pm starting time and extra time if required.

The replay of this semifinal has interrupted the staging of the final, which was scheduled to take place on Sunday next, but the final moves out one week and will be played on Sunday, February 11 with a time and venue to be decided.

AGM

THE Annual General Meeting of the North Kerry Football Board will take place Monday night, February 6 at the Mermaids Listowel commencing at 8.15pm. With nominations closed seven out of the eleven officer positions are now filled, six of these officers positions were outgoing officers who were returned un opposed they are as follows: Treasurer: Denis O' Connor (Moyvane) Assistant Treasurer: (Finuge) Development Officer: Walsh (Ballylongford) Youth Officer: Tomas Keane (Moyvane)

Aidan Galvin

John Joe Scor/cultural Officer: Jack Hennessy (St Mary's Asdee) Hon Secretary: Michael Flavin (Ballydonoghue) Assistant Secretary: Maurice Mannix (Beale)

There was only one nomination for the position of Joint Vice Chairman: In which former chairman of Listowel Emmets Mikey Kennelly makes his debut on the Board. The second Vice Chairman position becomes vacant with no nomination received and also the position of PRO, which also becomes vacant with no nomination received.

These vacant positions will be reviewed once the new Officers Executive is complete after convention. The position of Chairman becomes vacant under the five year rule in which outgoing chairman Liam Dennehy will, after a very successful term, vacate his position.

Two outgoing officers contest the position of chairman namely Tom Dillon of St Senans (former Secretary and outgoing Vice Chairman) and Billy Enright of Ballylongford (current PRO and former Vice Chairman and Secretary). Both men between them have served 27 years as Officers.

Tom Dillon five years as Secretary and one year as Vice Chairman, while Billy Enright has served six years as PRO, eleven years as Secretary and four years as Vice Chairman.

So with a wealth of experience between both men they now await the outcome of the Ballot Box as the sixteen clubs of the District and the ten outgoing officers will cast their votes in preference of the candidate of their choice to fill the position.

All ballot papers must be returned either by post or handed into the secretary on or before 5pm on this Friday, February 3.
