PAT Hartnett's Kerry Ladies side are firmly rooted to the bottom of the Bord Gais Energy Ladies National League Division One group after the Round 4 group of games. Kerry now face two win or burst home ties in a row beginning with Saturday's outing against Mayo.
The Listowel club are putting a huge effort into the hosting of the tie. The Kerry / Mayo clash will be preceded by a Ladies Senior County League Division Two tie between Dr Crokes and Listowel and there will also be a long kick competition involving North Kerry clubs at half-time in the main event.
Patrons are also encouraged to wear their county colours. Those wearing either Mayo or Kerry jerseys on the day will gain entry to the ground for just 5 Euro. The two inter-county teams will be accompanied by 30 young mascots while the Listowel club will produce a 32 page match programme on the day. It promises to be a really wonderful atmosphere at the North Kerry venue on Saturday next and there is no doubt that the Kerry management will be hoping that the expected large home crowd can roar Kerry on to their first victory of the League campaign.
Kerry have major injury worries and it looks unlikely that either Lorraine Scanlon or Mairead Finnegan will be available for selection. Kerry manager Pat Hartnett offered few excuses after Sunday's crushing defeat. "We were just not good enough on the day and we found that Dublin were exceptionally fit for this time of the year. They were physically stronger than us and we just could not match them. We did reasonably well in the first half and some of the younger players did well again but obviously we have to really concentrate on football from here on in."
If Kerry do prevail against Mayo they will then face another home tie against Monaghan. Their final League outing will be away to Tyrone on Easter Sunday.
