Doyle holds on to chair in Mid Kerry
JAMES Doyle remains on as Mid Kerry Board Chairman for a fourth year after defeating outgoing vicechairman Frank Walsh from Cromane in a ballot at the recent Mid Kerry Board AGM in Cromane, writes Jason O'connor.
Walsh had vacated his position as vice-chairman to contest the chair, with the vice-chair filled by former board secretary Michael Murphy from Milltown/castlemaine.
A motion from Cromane calling for the making of fixtures and appointment of referees to be conducted at properly convened CCC meetings at which each club would be represented was withdrawn after a long discussion on the merits and wording of the motion found that it could not be put to the floor for a vote.
However, a motion from Laune Rangers calling for a closed period for all football in the Mid Kerry District in December and January was passed after an amendment was made to comprise the dates of December 24 to January 6, meaning there will be no Mid Kerry District Football between those dates in future years.
