' You need to bring brass to pay for copper'

A FIGURE jailed in connection with the ongoing feud between two Kerry Traveller families will be sent straight back to prison after his release next July if he doesn't provide compensation for damage he caused to a copper roof.

John Casey (26), who has an address at 61 Mitchels Crescent, Tralee, appeared at Tralee District Court last Wednesday charged with damaging the porch roof of the Old Monastery in Castle countess, Tralee on April 15 2008. The court heard that €6,554 worth of damage was done to the roof.

John Casey is currently serving a 14-month sentence for threatening behaviour, criminal damage and possession of two knives.

He is due to be released on July 28 and Judge James O'Connor ordered that he be brought before the first sitting of Tralee District Court after his release when he is to have compensation to cover the damage he caused to the building.

Judge O'Connor said if John Casey failed to provide compensation he would be "going right back into prison."
