WHAT do Central Park, the Eiffel Tower, Venice and the famous Budapest baths have in common with Slea Head?
It's got nothing to do with the great view from the headland on a good day as you might think, but more to do with the acute feelings of romance each place can wreak on visitors as all are this week named as the top five destinations Irish people choose when it comes to popping the big question.
That's according to travel website GoHop.ie who rank the windswept West Kerry beauty spot among the most popular places in the world in which to ask one's beloved to tie the knot.
"GoHop are delighted to see Ireland featuring in the top five places to pop the question," GoHop founder Stephen McKenna said. "Despite the Irish love of travel, it is great to see that people don't have to stray too far from home when asking that all-important question," he added.
One disclaimer prospective husbands would be advised to heed is the need for plenty of gusto when saying those four far-reaching words on Slea Head. Wind speed in the centre of New York, Paris, Budapest and Venice is much more conducive to the lady actually hearing the question.
