The crystal meth capital of Ireland
Wednesday March 03 2010
KERRY has emerged as the 'crystal meth' capital of Ireland.
It's been revealed that Kerry is the only county in Ireland where the drug crystal meth has been found and seized by gardaí. Tralee's Joint Policing Committee meeting heard that in the past two years only three seizures of the drug have been made across the entire state.
All three of these seizures took place in Kerry. Two were in Tralee and one seizure of the drug was made in Firies.
Addressing the meeting Superintendent Pat Sullivan described Crystal Meth is a very addictive drug, and said that all the three of the seizures were connected to people from Eastern Europe.
He added that Irish people don't seem to be involved with the substance.
Crystal meth is one of several street names used for homemade methamphetamine.
