Snapshot of missionary work
Wednesday February 03 2010
A NEW photographic exhibition highlighting the early years of Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSC) in Ireland and abroad has gone on view at Listowel Library.
Entitled 'Missionaries of the Sacred Heart Reaching out to Others,' the collection depicts the social and humanitarian work undertaken in sometimes very dangerous conditions.
Fr Michael O'Connell, Director of the MSC Mission Support Centre in Cork said that many MSC missionary priests hailed from Kerry and the people of Kerry have been great supporters of MSC missionaries.
"The exhibition gives a snapshot of the work undertaken in Africa, in South America and in Russia, as well as in Papua New Guinea in earlier years."
The exhibition is open from 10am – 5pm on Monday to Saturday, and until 8pm on Tuesday and Thursday, and will run until February 12.
