SEVEN friends scattered to the ends of the earth are in with a chance of being flown home to spend St Patrick's Day at Falvey's Bar in Killorglin.
St Patrick's Day sees celebrations taking place all over the world, but there's nothing like drowning the shamrock at home. Now, thanks to a new competition from 7up, Bring Them Back for the Craic, seven friends from the South Kerry area living in cities across the globe are in with a chance of enjoying one seriously memorable reunion.
It's all thanks to Glenbeigh native, Conor McBride, who read about the competition on Facebook — organised by 7up to fly ex-pats home for the national holiday — and lost no time in getting onto his mates from the ISK in Killorglin and UCC to see if they'd be up for the reunion.
Writing a story based on the rap from sitcom Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Conor saw his team chosen as one of seven finalists. To be decided by public vote, the team are currently in pole position on the 7up website http://ru7up4it.ie/campaigns/ team/ 7uptonogood.
Tim McCarthy (Fossa), Gary Cahillane (Killorglin), Sarah Crowley (Killorglin), Trevor West (Killorglin), Gary O'Keeffe (Cork) and Gráinne Curtin (Mitchelstown) are all on board to return from their current abodes. If successful, they will also be treated to the 7up Free Party concert in Dublin after Falvey's Bar headlined by popular acts Ash and the Republic of Loose.
To vote for the team log o n t o http:// ru7up4it. ie/ campaigns/ team/ 7uptonogood or www.ru7up4it.ie. Voting closes on Sunday, March 7, next with the winning team announced on Monday, March 8.
