Seán returns to his roots... to plant a tree
PROUD Moyvane GAA stood with native son Seán Walsh as he planted a tree in the local Woodland Walk last weekend marking both his ascension to the Chair of the GAA Munster Council and National Tree Week.
The commemorative planting was part of a tree-planting initiative by both the Moyvane GAA and the Moyvane Development Association.
"We were delighted for Seán's election as Chairman of the Munster Council and it had an added bit of resonance for the woodland in that Seán also planted a tree to mark his election to the Chair of the Kerry County Board 10 years ago," Moyvane Development Association Secretary, Seamus Roche, told The Kerryman.
"We're very proud of the Woodland Walk, which is situated on the Listowel Road, and the addition of more trees this week should add no end to its appearance as they mature into the future." The walk was the recipient of The Kerryman-sponsored Kerry Community Awards some years ago.
Joining both Seamus and Seán at the tree-planting ceremony were Denis O'Flaherty, Gerry Mullin, Michael Fogarty and Ursula Enright of the Moyvane Development Association, Chairman of the Moyvane GAA, Teddy Keane, Treasurer of the Moyvane GAA, Martin Kennelly, Treasurer Moyvane GAA, Gerry Mullin.
