HUNDREDS of Rose of Tralee visitors will flock to Kerry County Library this Saturday, August 22, for the opening of The Rose of Tralee International Festival Exhibition.
Showcasing events and scenes of the world renowned festival as it celebrates its 50th Birthday, the hugely popular exhibition will feature photographs, pictures and memorabilia spanning the history of the Festival,
Visitor will also learn of the moving story of Mary O'Connor and William Mulchinock — a story of an impossible love, a forced goodbye and an untimely death all of which are the inspiration to the song, The Rose of Tralee.
Traditionally, the exhibition is officially launched each year by the reigning Rose of Tralee and this year Aoife Kelly will speak of her year's adventures both here and in the international Rose Centres abroad. The 2009 contesting Roses will also attend as they are always eager to see events of previous years.
