NORTH Kerry Fine Gael Deputy Jimmy Deenihan has hosted a meeting of young Kerry business people in Dublin in a bid to promote increased business networking between Kerry and the capital.
Some 40 young Kerry born, but Dublin based, business people attended the event at Leinster House on Tuesday evening with Marie Lynch of Shannon Development and Paddy Power of Shannon LNG also on hand to give presentations on Kerry's investment potential.
The aim of the event was to promote Kerry and develop business contacts in Dublin with a view to attracting investment to north Kerry.
A relatively low key affair, Tuesday's event was described as an informal meeting and Deputy Deenihan said he had no wish to turn the event into a political affair.
"I'm involved in trying to build a network of Kerry business people around the world and to that end I invited a number of young Kerry business people who are based in Dublin with major firms to this gathering," he said.
"This network is something I've been working on for years but I've accelerated the project recently in the light of the IDA's lack of interest in Kerry," Deputy Deenihan said.
In 2008 Deputy Deenihan and a nine-strong including representatives of Tralee and Listowel Chambers of Commerce, IT Tralee and Kerry Technology Park, travelled to California to meet with Kerry linked business owners.
During the St Patrick's Day celebrations Deputy Deenihan will travel to Chicago and New York where he will be meeting numerous Kerry linked business people and attending two Kerry business breakfasts.
