KERRY will soon be welcoming a brand new service catering for those who are affected by cancer.
"Recovery Haven" will act as a drop in centre for cancer sufferers and anyone affected by cancer. It is located at 5 Haig's Terrace, Tralee and will serve all of Kerry.
Committee member Mary O'Regan is inviting the public to come along to the official opening of the centre by patron Dick Spring this Friday at 5pm.
"Come and have a look around and bring a friend with you," said Ms O'Regan. "Recovery Haven has a comfortable and homely atmosphere and it's not at all clinical."
"We provide emotional support in a tranquil setting," she said. "And all counselling and services are free."
"Anyone affected by cancer can come in for a chat and a cup of tea," she said.
The centre employs fully trained counsellors and therapists and all volunteers are also trained. It offers counselling sessions, along with yoga, art therapy and stress management classes, to name but a few services.
Recovery Haven will initially be opened on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10am to 4pm, but will be open full time by December.
The centre is reliant on contributions from the public. Anyone interested in volunteering or donating to Recovery Haven can call (066) 7192122 or e-mail recoveryhaven@gmail.com
