A DINGLE university student who prides herself on her curvy size 16 figure has fought off competition from over 500 wannabes to scoop the title of Britain's Next Plus Size Model.

Twenty one-year-old Tara Logan Buckley, who admits to loving her curvy shape, says that winning the competition will give her a chance to show that modelling is not just about being a size 0.

"I feel, as a university student, that I can represent a younger generation in which the size 0 is not fashionable and not healthy," she said. "Being from Ireland we have nothing here that allows us to be proud of our shape — that's why I was willing to travel for my love of the modelling world. I've got boobs and a bum and I'm not afraid to show them."

The curvy UCC student says that she always wanted to be Britain's Next Plus Model, as she has always worn her clothes with pride and feels she can now encourage others to do the same.

Tara flew to Hampshire for the final of the contest where she not only faced up to 500 competitors, but also a strict panel of judges. These included: Chloe Marshall. the first ever plus-size runner-up in a Miss England beauty pageant; Cheryl Hughes, founder of Europe's first and most successful plus-size modelling agency, Hughes Models; and author and television personality, Lyndsay Russell. Australian plus-size retail guru Phil Ryan also flew to the UK especifically to judge the event.

Tara's figure clearly captured the eye of the judges, who awarded her a contract with the aforementioned Hughes Models.
