A CHRONICLE of past and present success in the life of one of the county's greatest hurling heartlands, Kilmoyley, is to be launched at the North Kerry village on Saturday night.

President of the North Kerry Hurling Board and author of Kilmoyley to the Rescue, Seán Seosamh Ó Conchubhair, is set to do the honours at the launch of a DVD entitled 'Kilmoyley: Team of the Decade', compiled by videographer and former club hurler Jim McCarthy.

With 22 Kerry titles to date, a four-in-a-row county championship campaign (2001 - 2004), the Munster senior league in 2003 and two county finals on one day (minor and senior) in 2009, Kilmoyley have consolidated their place as the best hurling side in the county. The DVD celebrates this record of achievement with match footage and interviews with clubmen past and present.

"It's all there covering the last six months, but there is plenty of Kilmoyley club history in there as well, including interviews with the two surviving members of the 1948 championship-winning side and an appearance of Paitsín Quane's hurley with which he scored one of the crucial goals in the 1891 All-Ireland final for Kerry," Jim said.

"It started small when I was originally asked to cover the opening of the ball alley, but I stuck with it after that and it gradually started to grow into something a bit bigger going back over the historical highlights of Kilmoyley hurling as well as the modern highs," Jim added.
