ARABIAN Nights come to Ballybunion this week with a colorful dramatics by local children who are currently preparing for their production of Aladdin.
On stage in the Tínteán Theatre beginning Friday, the Ballybunion children's version of the famous One Thousand and One Arabian Nights tale is promised to bring the house down.
Up to their oxsters in costumes and exotic dialogue, this week, the kids are hoping all will come out in support — given that the proceeds will all go to a number of local charities. Aladdin sees the return of the town's annual children's pantomime after a hiatus of two years and the cast is comprised of young actors from a number of local schools.
This production of the Aladdin story sees Ísla O'Connor playing the title role, with Maggie O'Neill as the genie of the ring and Niamh Holly as the genie of the lamp, among other key roles.
"We're hoping for a great turnout and all the proceeds, after costs, will go towards a number of local charities," one of the organising parents, Máiréad O'Neill, said. "The one and only Steve Sparks is directing and we have five adult actors as well as the 25 children, so it should make for a fun night." Aladdin is staged on Friday at 7pm and Sunday at 4pm.
