Kicked bouncer between legs
A MAN who kicked a bouncer in a Castleisland bar between the legs, and then threatened him with a bottle, has been ordered to pay his victim at least €1,500 in compensation.
Redmond Roche (22) appeared before Castleisland District Court last week where he pleaded guilty to assault and producing an article in the course of a dispute at Hickey's Bar, Main Street, Casltisland, on December 26, 2010.
The court heard that Redmond Roche, who had previously been barred from the bar, was approached by a member of security staff and asked to leave the premises.
He turned and kicked the security guard in the privates and then picked up a beer bottle and threatened him with it.
Defence solicitor Eimear Griffin said the offence occurred on St Stephen's Day and her client had been out all day drinking. She added that his family and friends were in the bar at the time and he had wanted to see them.
Redmond Roche, who has 11 previous convictions for public order offences, brought €450 in compensation to court and Judge James O'connor adjourned the case until the May sitting of the court so Mr Roche can provide a further €1,050 in compensation for his victim.
