Jack L gig trial for INEC plan to stream live concerts
KILLARNEY'S INEC is stealing a march on its rivals with the launch of a new internet service that will stream concerts directly into the home and onto smart phones.
Taking advantage of high-speed fibre optics, recently installed to meet the needs of I.T. conferences, the INEC Acoustic Club will stream a full live concert of Jack L through its Facebook account. A new way of interacting with a wider audience and a market first for Ireland, the trial gig takes place on March 9 and will be free to INEC Facebook fans only.
Speaking to The Kerryman, INEC entertainment director Shane O'driscoll says there are plans to develop the initiative further if it proves a hit.
"The industry as a whole is heading in this direction, whereby a live audience of 350 can develop into a worldwide online viewership of anywhere up to three million. We're trying to be market leaders in live music in Ireland and this is testing the waters – it is aimed at those who cannot attend a concert to view it live from the comfort of their homes or even on their smart phones.
"Facebook is the perfect vehicle for this and the first show is a trial. Our plan would be to roll out streaming on all major concerts if successful."
The director added that charges for online viewers could be anywhere between €3.99 and €10, dependant on the artist.
To mark the occasion the INEC is also offering 30 people tickets to see Jack L perform, log on to: www.facebook.com/inecfans for more.
