THE annual Dingle Coiste na n-Óg awards presentation was held on Sunday in Benners Hotel where the function room was packed with the under 12, under 14 and under 16 teams in both football and hurling.
Special guests at the event were local football heroes Diarmuid Murphy and Tommy Griffin who brought along All-Star and AllIreland medals to show to the youngsters. Another special guest who remained silent throughout the presentations was the Sam Maguire Cup.
The two Kerry stars presented more than 200 medals to the young players.
Diarmuid Murphy recently announced his retirement as the Kerry senior football team goalkeeper and Coiste na n-Óg made a presentation to him to mark his retirement.
"We want to thank Diarmuid for his commitment and service to the Kerry team over the years and for his support of Coiste na n-Óg. He always turned up for presentations like this, he always encouraged young players and gave his time coaching the young goalkeepers," Coiste na n-Óg chairman Jimmy Bambury told The Kerryman.
The presentations were followed by a series of video recordings of various matches involving the young players over the past year.
