Forestry thinning

MORE than 60 Kerry farmers last week attended an onsite forestry demonstration on the first thinning of forestry plantations.
Organised by the Kerry Wood Energy Project, in conjunction with SKDP, the test was carried out at the forestry of Gerard O'Connor, Knockavota, Milltown.
The latest in tree harvesting technology was on show as the demonstration aimed to promote tree thinning work as a way of maximising forestry returns. The argument is that thinning has the potential to add significant value to the future profits of forest investment.
