Fined €
2,500 for using illegal diesel
A MAN has been fined € 2,500 for using illegal diesel after he was stopped by customs officers in Ballydesmond.
John Terrance Sheehan (29), with an address at 20 Cushing Place, Farranree, Cork, appeared at Castleisland District Court last week charged with using incorrect fuel at Knockaboul Cross, Ballydesmond, on September 23, 2011.
The car Mr Sheehan was driving was stopped at a customs checkpoint and a test of the fuel showed it was "marked diesel".
The court heard that Mr Sheehan, who pleaded guilty to the offence, told officers he was unaware the diesel was marked as he had "got someone else to fill the car for him." Judge James O'connor imposed a fine of € 2,500.
