Dingle's DJ takes on Feirm Factor challenge
A YOUNG West Kerry farmer is to star in TG4's new ten-part series Feirm Factor, which begins on Thursday, January 14. DJ Kennedy (18) from Dingle will feature as one of the 12 contestants who will battle it out in the series which challenges the competitors' farming skills, business acumen and their physical and mental endurance.
At 18, DJ Kennedy is the youngest contestant featured in the series. After successfully completing his Leaving Certificate, DJ took up the Feirm Factor challenge, facing off against his competitors to cement his place in the competition.
Described as a hardworking and invaluable member of this year's finalists, DJ's consistent good humour and obvious skills gained from the family farm helped him to excel during his time on Feirim Factor.
"For me Feirm Factor was an unforgettable experience one that I will have with me for the rest of my life" said DJ. "I am a young man on the cusp of my farming future and have little experience compared to all the other contestants. I am willing to rise to any challenge and I can honestly say Feirm Factor was a challenge and a half."
"There were great moments of fun and blunders along the way but I have made some wonderful new friends. I would advise anyone to try it" he said.
DJ will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Killorglin's Tom McGillycuddy who won the inaugural Feirm Factor show.
Produced for TG4 by Good Company Productions, the series requires the contestants to prove their worth as farmers through a myriad of tasks and wider world challenges.
This year the tasks will be bigger than before, the challenges tougher, and each of the chosen 12 will be expected to continually prove their salt as a farmer and as an agricultural entrepreneur in order to keep their place within the competition.
Each week the contestants will battle it out in a carefully selected series of tasks and missions to determine who gets to stand their ground for another week and move closer to winning the top prize of a Land Rover Discovery, and the title of Feirm Factor champion.
