NEARLY 5,000 train tickets were sold online within hours of Iarnród Éireann opening sales on their website on Sunday as fans clamoured for transport from Kerry and Cork.
12,000 seats in all were made available by Iarnród Éireann on All-Ireland transport, which includes seating on four additional trains for Sunday morning between Tralee and Killarney. The rail company now urge Kerry fans who are intending to travel by train to buy their tickets on line or by calling telesales number 1-850-366222.
Meanwhile, those who wish to get to Croker that much faster may do so by air with Kerry Holidays, who've chartered a special one-day return flight from Kerry Airport. The holiday company — who are based in Farranfore — are offering the flight in association with CityJet with tickets priced at €190. Leaving at 9.45am and returning at 8.50pm, the seats are being offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Phone Kerry Holidays on (086) 385 5609.
Sales opened at 11am on Sunday for the 12,000 spaces on trains, with 40 per cent sold in hours. The seats are available on the weekend's scheduled trains as well as the extra trains which leave Tralee at 6.30am and 7.15am on Sunday morning, Killarney at 6.30am and 7.30am and Mallow at 7am on Sunday.
An extra train has also been scheduled for Saturday, September 19, leaving Killarney at 12.50pm, serving Rathmore at 1.07pm and arriving in Heuston at 4.08pm, all going to plan.
THE Kerry Association in Dublin invite all to attend the fund-raising Kerry GAA teams lotto morning in Jury's Croke Park Hotel on the Sunday morning of the All-Ireland.
Starting at 11.30am, the morning is set to continue to 1.30pm giving everyone the chance to begin the day in AllIreland style. It takes place in the Fitzroy Suite of the hotel, located just opposite Croke Park on the Hogan Stand side of the stadium.
Just look for the green and gold balloons, the Kerry Association say. "All are welcome. Tea, coffee and sandwiches will be served. Supporters can purchase tickets for the post-match function being held in D4 Ballsbridge Inn, which was formerly Jury's," a spokesperson for the organisation said.
