MÁIRE Uí Fhlathaimh, known affectionately by generations of Dingle boys as 'Mish', has retired from teaching at Scoil Ignáid Rís Primary School after 37 years service there.
A special Mass was celebrated for the retiring Principal on Friday morning after which Máire received a number of presentations. Then she hosted a party for all the boys in the school and for some of her colleagues, both working and retired teachers.
This Friday, December 4, the school's Parents Council and Board of Management are issuing an open invitation to all of Mish's past pupils and the parents of past pupils to come to Benners Hotel for an evening to celebrate and acknowledge the care and kindness she has shown to all the boys of Dingle over her teaching career.
The evening gets inderway at 8pm in Benners with a performance by the junior members of the Dingle Fife and Drum Band. This will be followed by various local musicians who have very kindly volunteered their time to entertain the gathering.
The Fear a' Tí on the night will be Pat Nelligan.
