THE newly established tourism group Funtime Kerry brought its roadshow to Dingle last week and set out its stall in Benners Hotel.
Funtime Kerry is an arm of the Kerry Marketing Partnership which includes representatives of the county's tourism industry, the local authority and Leader groups. The initiative aims to promote tourism in Kerry with the focus on the domestic market.
The main promotional tool will be a website which is planned for launching on March 17, 2010, but press, radio and TV advertising will also be undertaken.
"This is all about selling Kerry as a brand and it's all about links. No matter what the size of your business or tourism related activity, our website will provide equal space for all customers who advertise on the website. The website will be a gateway to what to see, where to stay, where to eat and what attractions or interests to enjoy in the county," group member Jerry O'Grady said.
"The promotion is focused on family activity holidays in Kerry and our priority will be the domestic market. We'll look at the overseas market later, but for now it's all about Kerry, the unique experience of its landscape, beaches, heritage, culture, the Irish language, the music and the vast range of attractions and facilities. The website will include a calendar of events around the county so people can search the site by area or look for their own special interests," he added.
The estimated setup cost of the website is €30,000 and the annual running cost will be between €30,000 and 50,000.
