BY popular demand, John B Keane's summer pub theatre transfers to St John's Arts and Cultural Centre on Wednesday evening at 8.15pm — in a performance set to raise even more vital funds for a Chernobyl charity it has been supporting all summer.
"We're hoping for a big turnout as it is in aid of a great cause which we've been supporting with the help of the Moyvane ICA all summer during its run in John B's," Billy Keane said. All the proceeds of the run and of the forthcoming show in St John's this week are going to the Greater Chernobyl Charity, which as its name suggests, works right across the region improving the lives of those in the afflicted zone primarily in the area of health. The ICA came on board at the beginning of the summer with the novel idea of knitting special blankets for the deprived children of Belarus. They presented their wonderful, warming blankets on the first night of the annual summer pub theatre season in John B's.
Among those in attendance at John B's on the night were ICA Kerry Federation President, Listowel Mayor Anthony Curtin and host Billy Keane.
"It was great to see the amount of work the ICA here have done on behalf of this great cause and I was delighted to have been associated with the event," Mayor Curtin told The Kerryman at the time.
