St Vincent De Paul call for memorabilia for booklet

MEMBERS of the Listowel branch of the St Vincent De Paul Society are looking for the help of the public as they go about finalising a history of its activities since its foundation in town in 1937.
Anyone with any memorabilia relating to the society since then is urged to get in touch with the local branch as they try to piece together all those in town who've contributed to its vital work over the years.
"We're particularly trying to bridge the gap between 1937 and 1964," longtime member of the Listowel St Vincent De Paul society Michael Dillane told The Kerryman. "Our records only go back as far as 1964 when the conference, as we refer to our committee, began taking minutes at meetings. Unfortunately I've no minutes from before then and the same is the case, largely, in terms of photographs.
"We would love to hear from anyone who might have photos or minutes at home from that period to get in touch with us as we prepare the history." Michael is also in the process of completing a booklet on the history of the organisation in Listowel for members of the society locally.
"If any of you, your parents, or grandparents had any association with, or were members of the SVDeP in the forties, fifties, or sixties you might search through old records or photographs for anything that may be revelant. If you come across anything, no matter how insignificant please contact me at (068) 21596 or any other member of the Society," Michael asked.
