ROSE Delaney rang from Knocknagoshel with the news that the village has a new drama group with a very local relevance to its title.
Spike Players will represent its variety show at the community centre on Saturday, February 6, at 8.15 pm. The county's latest drama group debuted on January 22 and 23 and due to its success have decided to run it again on Saturday.
"Tickets for this show will be on sale in local outlets. Profits from the night will be invested in updating the existing lighting and sound system at the centre," according to Ms. Delaney. "The drama group Spike Players was formed when we started drama classes for adults in the community centre last September. These classes were part funded by the Kerry Education Services and were given by Pádraig Dennehy.
"The late local publican, Noelie Roche, known as ' Spike' in his native Abbeyfeale, was one of our founding members. As a result of his untimely death we decided to keep his memory alive by naming our drama group in his honour," said Rose in conclusion.
