THREE visitor centres in West Kerry have formed an alliance to offer customers up to 40 per cent off their admission prices.
The initiative was launched in Músaem Chorca Dhuibhne, Ballyferriter, by Benners Hotel manager Muireann Nic Giolla Ruaidh last week. The museum is one of the three centres involved in the alliance and its curator, Isabell Bennett, applied to the Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism for grant aid to produce a brochure. The other two centres involved are the Blasket Island centrein Dún Chaoin and An Díseart in Dingle. Visitors can pick up the brochure locally and use it to avail of the admission reductions at the three venues.
"The department have given us a very generous grant to produce the brochures, which will encourage people to visit local museums and heritage related centres. I made the application in the spring and it was sanctioned a few months later. This is a preliminary launch of the brochure and we'll have a bigger launch ahead of the tourist season next spring," Ms Bennet said.
