PLANS are at an advanced stage for the Patrick O'Keeffe Traditional Music Festival which will be held here in Castleisland over the October bank holiday weekend.
This year's event will run from Friday, October 22, to Monday, October 25. The same dates, oddly enough, as those of the first ever festival in 1993. Plans are afoot to honour 'The man with the Hat' the incomparable Denis McMahon for his contribution to the music of Sliabh Luachra over many decades.
There are many events planned for the weekend. Those who partake often walk into the unplanned or impromptu kind that tends to make more a dent than an impression on the old memory bank. Castleisland is a great place to be over the October bank holiday weekend.
