It's for you, Nora — again

Wednesday March 10 2010

AFTER congratulating Nora Nelligan on her Late Late Show car win on the Eurovision special show, I asked her was it luck or perseverance – or both? She answered: "Definitely perseverance."

It was the night when Niamh Kavanagh, again, won the right to represent Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest with her entry It's for

You.

Nora entered the competition, which asked the question: 'How many times has Ireland won the Eurovision Song Contest?' and was at home when the phone rang. Ryan Tubridy popped the question and Nora was equal to it and ended up with a new Toyota Auris and €5,000 cash better off.

Nora, of Clounough, has won more competitions than most people could only dream of. On being asked if she entered every competition she came across she replied, "I only enter the ones that appeal to me." The Late Late Show car competition appealed to her, she entered and won.

Nora won another car at the turn of the Millennium in a newspaper competition and has also won holidays to London, Paris and Florida. The 'Examiner Car' she won from a countrywide entry of some 26,000 people. That throws a little shade on the 'perseverance' theory and brings lady luck more into the light.

Well done to Nora and Dan and family and may they never lose the touch.
