MEMBERS of Listowel Bridge Club received a personal 'thank you' from GOAL chief executive John O'Shea, for their recent fund-raising efforts which led to the donation of €1,725 to the Haiti fund.
In a letter to the club's secretary, Hannah Mulvihill, the aid agency founder said that the money raised by the Listowel group would be used to alleviate the suffering amongst the survivors of the recent Haiti earthquake.
Mr O'Shea informed the group in his letter that he had just returned from a visit to Port Au Prince, where one million inhabitants are in urgent need of assistance.
"Once again, a thousand thanks for your generosity. It is, as always, deeply appreciated," his letter to the Listowel group read.
Thanking everyone who contributed to the cause, Hannah told The Kerryman that the money was raised through a one-night bridge tournament held at the Listowel Arms in February.
