YACHT CLUB: Foynes Yacht Club is celebrating its golden jubilee this year and a full list of events is taking place during the year. In February and March a series of lectures will take place on nautical activities Wednesday evening. Adult and junior sailing courses begin in March and the annual flotilla to Limerick for the river fest takes place in May. The annual lift in takes place on Saturday April 14th. A mass for deceased members is planned for February. The highlight of the year is the West of Ireland offshore racing championship, which takes place in July and already 42 boats, are confirmed. Other events during the year are the Glin Castle race, the Estuary , the Carrigaholt race, the Cappa race and the Regatta, which is part of the Irish coffee festival. IRISH LANGUAGE classes are taking place in the community centre, Foynes. On Monday it's for secondary school children. On Wednesday for improvers and adults and Thursday beginners and adults. SEARCH AND RESCUE: Foynes and District Search and Rescue is holding a fund raising table quiz on Friday 3rd February in the Shannon House, Foynes at 9.30 p.m.
