LISTOWEL'S film club brings March to an apocalyptic end with one of the few Kerry screenings of 'The Road'.
Based on the acclaimed novel by Cormac McCarthy, 'The Road' — starring Viggo Mortensen — portrays the post-holocaust journey of a father and son across a ravaged US.
Every bit as acclaimed as the book on which it is based, The Road failed to make it to some of Kerry's biggest cinemas on its recent release. Thanks to the discerning eye of Listowel Cinema owner, Kieran Gleeson, it will screen in North Kerry on Thursday, March 25 next at 8pm.
Prior to that March's film club will see the screening of two other well-received films about family: 'The Boys are Back' on March 11 at 8pm and 'The First Day of the Rest of Your Life' on Thursday, March 18, at 8pm.
The Boys are Back tells the tale of a man suddenly thrust into the role of a single parent and the First Day, a French film, explores the humorous relationships between the members of a Parisienne family.
