DESMONDS unluckily lost the face-off challenge against Shannonbridge of Offaly in the Curragh Camp last Wednesday by an agonising couple of seconds.
Both teams had to carry a life sized mannequin on a stretcher around the famed army obstacle course. After a gruelling session the Island lads were pipped at the post. The team consisted of: Derek Burke, Pat Fitzgerald, Kieran O'Callaghan, Niall O'Connor and John McGaley. They returned home where Derek took a training session with them that evening.
The club members are looking forward to travelling to Shannonbridge on Saturday, August 29, with every intention of winning.
"If so we have a chance of hosting an All-Ireland semi-final in Castleisland. The date of the Desmonds v Shannonbridge match has been changed to Saturday at 1pm to accommodate those who will want to support Kerry in the All-Ireland semi-final if they defeat Down next Saturday."
