Currow club in Malin to Mizen five-day cycle

AN ambitious undertaking by the Currow Cycling Club will begin on Thursday, April 29, when 13 club members will set off from Malin Head the farthest northern part of county Donegal and indeed of Ireland and set out for Mizen Head on the southern point of county Cork.
Cyclists taking part in this 410 mile journey are : Tom Kenny, Eamonn Collier, Steve Key, Pat Brosnan, Kevin Griffin, Joe Geaney,, Adrian Shanahan, Mark Collins, Kieran O' Connor, Stuart Newans, Donncha Clifford and brothers, John and Patrick Breen.
The itinerary is as follows: April 29: Malin Head – Bundoran (87 miles); April 30: Bundoran – Athlone (85 miles); May 1: Athlone – Limerick (87 miles); May 2: Limerick – Currow (64 miles); May 3: Currow – Mizen Head (via Killarney, 87 miles).
This is a total distance of 410 miles. Despite the inclement weather over the last three months this group has shown great determination by training in all kinds of conditions. The club will have a back up service with a van and a mechanic accompanying them the entire journey.
In an effort to raise funds for this venture Currow Cycling Club are organising a table quiz in conjunction with Conradh na Gaeilge in Daly's Pub, Currans, this Friday night, March 12, at 9.30.
Teams of four with a first prize a €100 voucher as well as other prizes and spot prizes will be on offer.
