Chamber calls on people to shop local

FOLLOWING a meeting with representatives of the various local business outlets, the Dingle Business Chamber is coordinating a Christmas shopping promotion again this year.
The promotion is running from December 1 to 24 and participating shops will individually decide how much of a discount or other deal they want to offer customers. There will also be late night shopping and Sunday opening times, also at the discretion of each outlet.
The Chamber will provide entertainment and invite carol singers/musicians to perform on Saturday, December 19, and will also stage a children's treasure hunt on the same day around town.
The Chamber will fund a newspaper and radio promotion campaign and will also organise Christmas street lighting and the New Year's Eve fireworks display, which will be funded by the annual street collection and race night on December 29. The Radio Kerry Roadcaster will broadcast 'shop local' promotions live from Dingle on December 12.
The Chamber has set up a new e-mail address and would welcome information or updates from any businesses who would be interested in joining. The aim of getting its members on line is to improve communication both ways.
This will enable the Chamber to keep members updated on upcoming events, progress on current issues being worked on and will enable members to contact the committee easily with suggestions or issues that they may have.
